What is JUACEP?

JUACEP is an international student exchange program for graduate students at Nagoya University, University of Michigan (UM), UCLA, University of Toronto (UT), North Carolina State University(NCSU), Polytechnique Montréal (PolyMTL), New York University (NYU) and University of Washington(UW). The primary purpose is to have the students gain research experience, knowledge, and skills at the visiting university, but we also expect them to be driven, flexible, cooperative, and tough in multi-cultural environment.
 

Student Exchange

The exchange students stay at partner universities as visiting scholars and conduct independent research. The length of stay can be chosen from the following three courses depending on the students' motivation and interest: short (2-3 months), medium (4-6 months), and long (8-12 months). UM and UCLA have been Nagoya University's partner universities since 2012, UT became our third partner university from 2018, NCSU joined in 2022, PolyMTL in 2023 and NYU and UW in 2024.
The main task of the participants would be to execute individual research projects at research laboratories. Students can earn credits of Nagoya University for the research activity and the credits can be transferred and counted as graduation credits at their home universities for some students.

Workshop

Workshops are organized several times a year. Student workshops are designed to present the students' achievements through the JUACEP program and see the research environment at other universities, while faculty workshops are designed for faculty members to exchange research interests and ideas, and introduce potential research projects to prospective students.

Nagoya University

Nagoya University is one of the top research universities in Japan. There have been 6 Novel laureates from Nagoya University in the 21st century. From engineering aspects, Nagoya is located in the Tokai area which is considered a hub for Japanese technology. There are a variety of multinational industrial companies and the school of Engineering has strong intercommunion with them, in terms of both people and research.
